As Music Educators, it is our mission to inspire and guide every student in active music making through the use of a sequential and creative curriculum that nurtures the human spirit and promtes cultural understanding.

Music Instruction and Performance in the Somerville Public Schools

The Somerville Public Schools offers weekly music instruction to students in grades PK-8. In addition, free instrumental music lessons are available to students in grades 4-8.

Somerville High School offers many music electives and an opportunity for "major" study in music theory and practice.

Performance is an important part of the instructional process. Elementary and high school student performance ensembles perform regularly in school and in the community. Please browse the schedule below for a list of upcoming performances.

SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL SPRING CONCERT:   Thursday April 26th, 2012 7pm SHS Auditorium

Enjoy the amazing sounds of the SHS Band, Chorus, Orchestra, World Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and watch the fancy steps of the SHS Dance Club!!!!!

Tickets are available at the main office and at the door.  Admission is FREE!

Come and enjoy the All City Middle School Chorus, the All City Middle School Orchestra, the All City Middle School Band, the Chamber Wind Ensemble and the Chamber Strings Ensemble! Tickets are free and available in the main office or at the door!!! Please come and support our student musicians!!

All violinists, violaists, cellists and bassists performing string hits from pre-history to the 21st Century!!!
