How do I make a referral for a special education evaluation?

You can make a referral or a teacher or other professional working with your child. Referrals are made by contacting the special education director and asking for an evaluation for special education eligibility. The parent must give written consent for the evaluation process can begin. The district must contact you within five school days of receiving the referral asking for your written permission to begin evaluations.
How long will the evaluation process for my child take?

Evaluations for your child must be completed within 30 school days of the parent's written permission for evaluations. Within 45 school working days of the school's receipt of your permission in writing, a TEAM meeting must be held to talk about the results of the evaluations to determine if your child will be eligible for special education services and to create and IEP for your child.
