Shape Up Somerville

The Somerville Public Schools continues improvements started by the Tufts' University-managed Shape Up Somerville initiative in several ways:

  • Implementation of the District's Wellness Policy
  • Continuing to promote healthy snacking in school and at home
  • On-going improvements and innovation in the preparation of school meals
  • Expansion of physical education instruction to engage more youth in developing knowledge, skills and attitudes they can use both in school and in the community
  • Expansion of recess activities to engage more youth in active play
  • Continued efforts to integration physical activity and nutrition instruction in after-school programming.
