Opened in September 2007 on the site of the former Lincoln Park Community School, this state-of-the-art facility features upgraded classrooms, a gymnasium, a multi-purpose cafetorium, library/media center equipped with the latest instructional technology, a Math/Science technology center, and renovated athletic fields. The Argenziano School is named in honor of a former Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Albert F. Argenziano.
At the Argenziano, the staff is committed to pursuing innovative teaching strategies that enable students to meet every academic challenge, and to fully develop their life-long learning skills. Students are asked to analyze and reason carefully, to express themselves completely, to work cooperatively, and to become active participants in their educational experiences at the Argenziano.
The Argenziano is a place of great opportunity and excitement, and many interesting and productive activities are available to our students, including serving as home to a Structured English Immersion Program (SEIP) offering intensive instruction for English Language Learners.
Many Argenziano students participate regularly in various academic and recreational activities offered before and after school to support what they are learning during the school day, and provide enrichment opportunities. Community Schools, Somerville Public Schools' afterschool department, offers a fee-for-service comprehensive afterschool program for Grade K-5 students which provides safe, developmentally appropriate enrichment programming daily from 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM. This is complemented by staff-run extended day activities that provide quality educational and enrichment programming well beyond the hours of the traditional school day.
