About the Kennedy School

Named for President John F. Kennedy, Somerville's Kennedy School is driven by the goal of providing all students with academic, social, and emotional experiences to learn and practice the knowledge and skills necessary for future success. Students are taught by a committed, motivated, highly qualified staff using research based instructional methods and assessments to provide appropriate learning experiences.

The Kennedy School offers extracurricular programs daily from 2:45-5:30 PM, including a special afterschool program designed to meet the developmental, social, emotional and academic interests of students in Grades 6-8. Afterschool enrichment activities include Drama, Chorus, National History Day, Computer Technology, Math League, World Language and Culture, the Arts, Music, and physical activities, such as yoga, fencing, basketball, dance, and cheerleading. Students at the Kennedy School can participate in student council, beautification of the school through gardening, community and world-wide service, a welcoming committee for new students, and the morning news team.In addition, there is an inclusive parent/toddler group that meets at the school three mornings a week.
