The Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (SFLC) offers a menu of workshops and activities to improve and expand opportunities for parents/guardians to engage in school-based activities that support their student’s learning and development. Programming and workshops are open to all Somerville families and are organized in four strands:

  1. Family in the Community

  2. Leadership and Advocacy

  3. Teaching and Learning and

  4. The Whole Child

Offerings include a range of topics such as English as a Second Language classes, Reading your Child’s Report Card, Why Eat Whole Wheat, Parenting a Child with Asthma, and Rights and Responsibilities of the Parent Guardian of a Child with Special Needs. The SFLC welcomes input from the community for family education and leadership training and provides interpretation in the District’s target languages (Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish).
