The primary goal of Somerville High School (SHS) is to prepare students to lead satisfying and successful lives by helping them to become:

Don't Forget! There is a half-day on Wednesday, February 10 for all students. There is no school during February break which runs from February 15-19. School resumes on February 22.

If there is a school closure because of snow, parents/guardians AND staff will receive a Connect-Ed telephone call from the District (in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole). Snow emergency information can also be found on this website, by calling 311, on local cable channels 15 and/or 16 and on television channels 4, 5, 7, 13, 25, and 56.  Snow emergency information is also broadcast on the radio (WBZ 1030 AM and WBUR 90.9 FM).  REMEMBER!  There is no parking on the even sides of the streets during snow emergencies.

House System

Somerville High School student support services are organized into four houses:

  • Beacon House,
  • Elm House,
  • Highland House,
  • Broadway House.

Each House is made up of an Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor and Secretary who work together to provide comprehensive academic and other student support services to students across their Somerville High School careers. Somerville High School academic services are organized into the following departments:
