  • Mrs. Staples in the Argenziano Guidance Office

Hello! Mrs. Staples is the K-8 counselor at the Argenziano School. Mrs. Staples is a graduate in School Guidance from the University of New Hampshire. She lived in Sao Paulo Brazil with her family for 20 years and was a K-12 guidance counselor at a Brazilian American International School . Having worked with multi cultural families there and being fluent in Portuguese is a big help at the Argenziano School. She has been at AFAS since 1995. She is a member of the Ma. School Counselor Association and the American School Counselor Association, and works as a Second Step trainer for the city of Somerville.

What is School Guidance?

Albert F. Argenziano School provides a comprehensive and developmental counseling program for students in all grade levels. This program is designed to meet student needs by promoting and supporting personal, social, emotional and academic growth. Aspects of the counseling program include classroom guidance, small group counseling, individual counseling, and consultation with school staff and parents.

  • Classroom Guidance: Classroom guidance lessons are developmental in design and address topics such as test-taking skills, bullying, respect, responsibility, substance abuse prevention, goal setting, career awareness, hygiene and handwashing, etc.

  • Small Group Counseling : Small group counseling provides a small group learning environment with students who may share a common concern, such as divorce, grief and loss, friendship skills, peer pressure, being new to our school, etc.

  • Individual Counseling: Individual counseling consists of working with individual students to help meet specific needs. Administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians may refer students for individual counseling. Students may also refer themselves.

  • Consultation: The school counselor consults and collaborates with parents, teachers, administration, and other significant school personnel as well as community agencies to provide support and promote student success.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the counseling program please feel free to contact me at anytime. My office number is: 617-625-6600 extension # 6687. I look forward to working with you and your children this year!
