Students work with a teacher during X-block

ESCS lives its motto, "Every Student Can Succeed," by preparing students for life-long learning and high achievement in their futures. A dedicated staff work within a team approach, combining high quality and challenging classroom instruction with academic support. ESCS offers the best qualities of a large school with a welcoming and respectful atmosphere in a culturally diverse and rich neighborhood. Every student feels like a valued community member.

The newly-built ESCS features state-of-the-art technology, a beautiful auditorium, several recreation facilities, outdoor learning environments including a school garden courtyard, energy-saving features, and more.

In addition to our state-of-the-art facilities, we are home to two programs unique to the district.

K-8 Home of El Sistema Somerville, a district-wide intensive afterschool music experience based on an internationally recognized instructional model.

School report card

The East Somerville Community School regularly reports demographic and student progress data to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This data is used to develop the annual No Child Left Behind progress report card for the ESCS. The most recent school report card for ESCS is expected to be available on the DESE website in December 2018.
