Applying to Enroll

The first step in enrolling your child in the Somerville Child Care Center is to complete an application form. You can use this form to securely complete your application online. If you prefer you can print the form, complete it and return to to the Somerville High School Child Care Center at 81 Highland Avenue, Somerville MA 02143.

Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted within a few days by a representative of the Somerville Child Care Center.

1) Q. Do you need to live in Somerville to attend the program?
     A. No, you do not need to live in Somerville, however, preference is given to Somerville Public School teachers, City of Somerville employees and City of Somerville residents.

2) Q. How old are the children that you provide services to?
     A. We provide services to children between 2 years and 9 months (2.9 years of age) and 5 years of age.

3) Q. Are you accredited?
     A. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

4) Q. Who provides the daily snacks and lunch?
     A. Parents are responsible for providing their child's snacks and lunch.

5) Q. What are your fees?
     A.  We require a onetime registration fee of $80.00. The daily rates range between $45.00 and $65.00. The daily rate depends on the number of days a child is enrolled during the week.

6) Q. What are your daily hours?
     A.  We are open from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

7) Q. What guidelines do you follow for the curriculum?
     A. The program meets the Early Childhood Program Standards and incorporates the Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences developed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

8) Q. Where are you located at the High School?
     A. We are located on the atrium side of the High School building (the playground and the Somerville Public Library side). Look for the only chain linked fence at the High School.

9) Q. What is your relationship to Somerville High School?
     A. We are able to collaborate with several vocational shops: Child Development, Health Careers, Dental Career... Each year a Child Development student intern is assigned to our program.
