Sportsmanship and Spectator Expectations
Somerville Public Schools and the Greater Boston League are committed to creating safe, positive, and respectful athletic experiences for all. Representing Somerville is a privilege, and student-athletes, coaches, families, and fans are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship through honesty, fairness, dignity, and respect. Support all teams and athletes, respect coaches and officials, use positive language, follow safety expectations, and help create an enthusiastic environment where everyone feels welcome. Failure to uphold these expectations may result in removal from or restrictions on attending athletic events.
Athletic Transportation Information
Somerville High School works to provide safe and efficient transportation for student-athletes while managing rising transportation costs. Transportation options may vary by sport, team size, event location, and schedule. For weekday contests, transportation may be provided one way or both ways, while weekend tournaments and smaller teams may coordinate parent transportation when needed. Families should check with their specific program for details.
When bus transportation is provided both to and from an event, athletes are expected to return home on the team bus. In special circumstances, parents or guardians may request permission to transport their own student-athlete by submitting an Athletic Transportation Release Form in advance. Parents may only transport their own child and must provide the completed form to the head coach before the required deadline.
