Adult Learning
The Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences (SCALE) provides free adult education programs in basic skills, English language learning, and high school credentialing, serving about 1,200 learners annually. Additional English classes are offered through a partnership with The Welcome Project and the Somerville Family Learning Collaborative, with flexible scheduling for adult learners. The FabVille Design Lab also provides community access to a makerspace focused on digital design and fabrication, offering workshops and opportunities for hands-on learning.
SCALE
The Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences (SCALE) offers a range of courses to meet adult learners’ needs. For more than 45 years, SCALE has served approximately 1,200 adult learners annually, providing instruction in basic reading, writing, and math skills, English language learning, and pathways to a high school credential. The facility is fully accessible and includes a computer lab and on-site test center.
English Classes
Through a partnership with The Welcome Project, Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (SFLC) offers year-round English language courses for adults. Classes are available mornings, evenings, and Saturdays at beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate levels. FabLab
The FabVille Design Lab is a community makerspace focused on digital fabrication and rapid prototyping for learners of all skill levels. After school hours, community members may participate in workshops, classes, or community projects. More information is available at http://fabville.org/.
